Chapter 7

The album editor at a glance

Photos on the left, the spread in the middle, settings on the right, the timeline at the bottom. On the spread, text with names and date.
  1. Top bar: back to albums, undo / redo, Proofing, copy in another size, help, shortcuts, settings, Export.
  2. Photos: the album’s library, with stars and colours from Lightroom.
  3. Spread tools: mirror, free design, text, Auto-Build, cover, endpapers, templates, send for approval.
  4. The spread: spine (dashed in the middle) and safe zone (blue dashes).
  5. Layouts strip: layouts that fit the photos of this spread. Tabs for the whole spread, left page, right page.
  6. Right column: shows only what concerns your selection (photo, text, spread, album), in tabs that open one at a time. The client’s comments on the spread stay at the top, black on white.
  7. Timeline: the whole album, spread by spread. Cut, join, reorder by dragging.
Everything saves itself at every change (“Saved” at the top). Ctrl+Z undoes anything. Your original photos never change.

The tabs of the right column

Spread: Design, Background, Spread, View, Album details, Cloud Proofing, Spreads. Photo: Position and rotation, Colour and tones, Border and opacity, Frame shape, Fades, Image info. Right-click a tab title: One at a time, Open all, Close all and Customise tabs… (drag them into your own order, OK). A gold dot means you changed something inside.

View and album details

View: file names, the client’s comments on the spread, rulers, units and colour profile.
Album details › Edit…: export DPI, trim and safe zones.

Hide what you do not need
