Install
Download the installer with the Download for Windows button in our email (or from your account on digitalalbumstudio.com) and run it. The app opens maximised, in the language of Windows (English, Greek, German, Italian, French or Spanish). New versions install themselves when you agree.
First sign in for founding members: in our invitation email click Set your password, then in the app go to ⚙ Settings › 👤 Profile and sign in with the email you signed up with and that password. Your founding membership turns on by itself, and you see it under your plan (“Founding member”).
Your studio account
- Account: sign in once on each computer, with Google or with email and password. Forgot password: an email “New password for Digital Album Studio” arrives with a button to digitalalbumstudio.com/password (valid for one hour). The “set your password” link in the download email leads to the same page: a new password of at least 8 characters, “Show”, “Continue”.
- Plan: your plan and the cloud space you use.
- Studio details: logo, studio name, contact details. They are locked against accidental changes: click ✎ Edit to change them.
The other tabs of Settings
- General: language, buttons with or without words, your folders (where the album photos and the web copies go), the Lightroom catalogue, gallery defaults.
- Watermarks: text or logo watermarks for galleries, with live preview.
- Export: JPG quality and other print defaults.
- Labs: your labs, their album sizes, their PSD templates folder, cover types and the materials library.
A lab size
- ✎ on a size: the open spread (both pages), safe zones (left/right, top/bottom and at the middle, the spread’s fold, which is not the cover’s spine), trim and DPI. You can also fill it From the lab’s PSD… of the pages; the app warns you if you give it a cover template by mistake.
- Cover (shown open: back · spine · front), a section of its own with a blue title. Kind of cover: Printed whole cover (e.g. photo wrap), Plate or material, or Not set. For a printed cover: board width and height, spine, hinge and turn-in (each side, round the board), with the size of the whole file below (e.g. 30.5 / 2.6 / 1.7 / 2 cm → 67.6 × 34.5 cm). For a plate or material: spine and hinge (empty = 2.6 and 1.7 cm). A new album of this size, with no album type chosen, gets this cover, and the cover window starts from it. Handy for a new size with no template from the lab (e.g. a 40×40 photo wrap).
- Album types (below the labs): a type “From the lab’s PSD” has Spine…, a type “Only a picture by dimensions” has the fields Spine width and Hinge (empty: 2.6 / 1.7), and “Whole cover by dimensions” has boards, spine, hinge and turn-in. New covers of the type open with them, and “Save as type” keeps the plate and its cut line.
